Drew Peterson - CEO

Drew Peterson is a proud parent of four beautiful girls and has a fabulous wife who is both his inspiration and motivation.

Drew graduated in 1995 from Carroll College with a BA in Business Management with an emphasis in Finance. He was fortunate enough to be able to put himself through college on a basketball scholarship.

Drew has over 18 years of experience in the telecom industry and started his telecom career right after college selling for Access Long Distance. Drew worked his way up in the company in three short years and ran sales for the Western Region of Access Long Distance. Access Long Distance was acquired by McLeodUSA which is where Drew got his start in the CLEC Business.

Drew opened up the Utah, Idaho and Montana markets for McLeodUSA implementing local, LD and internet services hiring over 120 employees in those areas to sell and service business customers. Drew won many awards in Sales, Marketing and Management while at McLeodUSA but he believes his most impressive award was winning Sales Director of the year in his 1st year he was with McLeodUSA.

Drew was able to take his experience with him to build a customer focused local company with his partners at Veracity. As President and CEO of Veracity Communications he successfully led the implementation of Veracity’s CLEC agreements, Veracity’s Sonus Class 4 and Class 5 long distance and local switches as well as a very robust internet and data network. Through Drew’s leadership he was able to attract some of the industries most talented executives which helped him grow the company 500% with positive cash flow in 6 short years.

 

Dave Moon - Chairman

Mr. Moon’s experience includes a broad range of roles in technology, computer science, corporate management and public service. Moon began his career as a software engineer for WordPerfect Corporation, ultimately becoming WordPerfect’s Chief Technology Officer, where he was responsible for all product strategy and development.

Mr. Moon served for several years as the Chief Information Officer for the State of Utah, where he was responsible for overseeing and coordinating all technology and telecommunications initiatives for state government in Utah. Mr. Moon later served as the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Ancestry.com, a leading Internet company focused on family history anid genealogy. Mr. Moon is currently a general partner with EsNet, Ltd., Utah-based real estate and private equity investment firm. Mr. Moon is responsible for managing and directing the firm’s equity investments, which are focused primarily on information technology companies.

Mr. Moon currently serves on the boards of ContractPal, SonicScrubbers, RemedyMD, and Veracity Networks, where he is the Chairman. Mr. Moon also serves as a board member of the Provo Business Development Corporation, and is a member of Thanksgiving Point’s Board of Advisors. Mr. Moon graduated from Brigham Young University with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Computer Science. 

 

Scott Nelson - President and COO

Mr. Nelson has more than 27 years of experience in the telecommunications industry. His experience spans many years of leadership in the wireline and wireless industries, including fiber optic, voice, data, wireless broadband, and customer premise equipment industries.

Most recently Mr. Nelson was Chief Operating Officer and President of 1Velocity Inc. 1Velocity constructed the worlds largest deployment of millimeter-wave wireless technologies. Mr. Nelson was key in pioneering the design and deployment of this technology in a Metro-Ethernet network. He was instrumental in the companies growth and execution of it’s business plan. Prior to joining 1Velocity, he was President of the West Region for XO Communications, overseeing XO’s largest Region. In his role he was responsible for over 300 employees across many markets, including two of XO’s largest markets being Las Angeles and San Francisco. He was responsible for building and managing a P&L of over $275 million.

Prior to his role as Regional President, Mr. Nelson was Vice President General Manager for NEXTLINK and responsible for building the Utah and Las Vegas markets from their initial start. He oversaw all operations of the business and led his respective teams to construct city-wide fiber-optic networks of over 500 miles of fiber in each market. Under Mr. Nelson’s leadership revenues exceeded over $100 million combined. Building these two markets to become some of the most profitable operations. Before XO/NEXTLINK Mr. Nelson as Regional President for Tie Communications.

 

Robert J. Frankenberg - Board Member

Bob Frankenberg is the owner of NetVentures, a management consulting firm focused on the high tech industry. Prior to its sale in 2004, Bob chaired Kinzan, a leading provider of Internet services platforms. Bob was the chairman, president, and CEO of Encanto Networks from June 1997 to July 2000 when the company’s major business was sold to Avaya. Encanto was a leading provider of eBusiness software and services to small business. From April 1994 to August 1996 Frankenberg was the Chairman/CEO of Novell, the world’s largest networking software company. He successfully led Novell through a major strategy change to focus the company on the network software business. Prior to Novell, Frankenberg was the Vice President & Group General Manager of Hewlett-Packard’s Personal Information Products Group, responsible for HP’s personal computer, Server, networking, office software, calculator, and consumer product lines. Under his leadership HP’s PC business moved from 26th in market share to 7th. The management team he built moved HP to #1 in personal computers after he left for Novell. Frankenberg joined Hewlett-Packard in 1969 as a manufacturing technician, later became a design engineer, software designer, project manager, engineering and marketing executive, and general manager. He became a corporate vice president in 1990 and general manager of the Personal Information Products Group in 1991.

Frankenberg serves on the boards of directors of public companies National Semiconductor, and Nuance Communications, as well as startup companies Veracity Networks, Digital Bridge, and Sylvan Source. He also serves on the Sundance Institute board where he has been involved since 1994. He currently chairs the Westminster College Board of Trustees. He is a former member of the San Jose State University Advisory, Stanford Business School Alumni, America on Line (AOL), Daw Technologies, Electroglas, Encanto Networks, Extended Systems, Kinzan, PowerQuest, Secure Computing, Starlight Networks, Wall Data, and Placer Rehabilitation Industries boards.

Frankenberg is a 1974 Phi Kappa Phi/Tau Beta Pi, Summa cum laude Computer Engineering graduate of San Jose State University. He is a SEP graduate of Stanford’s Graduate School of Business. Bob is widely published; a frequent public speaker and holds several computer design patents. He has received numerous awards including the Air Force Commendation Medal, Smithsonian Jefferson Scholar, Distinguished Utahan, and SJSU College of Engineering Distinguished Graduate. He was recently inducted into the Silicon Valley Engineering Hall of Fame. He served in the US Air Force from 1965 to 1969. Bob and Linda, his wife of 42 years, live in Alpine, Utah.

 

Lane Critchfield - Board Member

Lane Critchfield is a Managing Director of Woodbury Strategic Partners (WSP) a $200M private real estate fund that invests in development and acquisition opportunities in the Intermountain West. Managed by a team of seasoned industry veterans, including the principals of Woodbury Corporation, WSP offers 90+ years of experience in its market and a best in class asset management platform. WSP employs a cash flow focused investment model that maximizes the long-term value of assets delivering superior risk-adjusted returns to investors.

Mr. Critchfield is also a partner at JR Miller Enterprises and previously served as its CFO where he was responsible for overseeing its investments in real estate and private equity. Mr. Critchfield serves as a board member of Wasatch Premier Properties, a diversified portfolio of multi-family apartments, and of Tower Group Holdings, the managing entity of its commercial office portfolio. Prior to joining JR Miller Enterprises, Mr. Critchfield was a Director of Finance for the Salt Lake Organizing Committee for the 2002 Olympic Winter Games, where he helped organize one of the most successful winter Olympics in history, producing a profit of over $100 million.

Mr. Critchfield earned a B.S. in Organizational Communication from the University of Utah and an MBA from the David Eccles School of Business, University of Utah.

Chris is the proud father of two young boys and husband to a wonderful wife.

 

Chris Modesitt - CTO

Chris Modesitt has an extensive background in building and maintaining VoIP and advanced IP data networks with Veracity Networks. Since joining the company in 2000, he has architected a data network that supports 10,000+ customers on a wide variety of network mediums. Chris was instrumental in the implementation of Veracity’s Sonus platform. Chris also plays a crucial role in the development and implementation of Veracity’s product offerings.

Prior to employment at Veracity Networks Chris was the Regional Network Administrator for Metalwest of Utah. At Metalwest, Chris provided IT support for several regions of the western United States.

Chris is the proud father of two young boys and husband to a wonderful wife.

 

Darin J. Fielding - CPA, CFO

Darin earned his Master’s Degree in Accounting from Brigham Young University in 2001. After graduation, Darin was employed by CBIZ and Mayer Hoffman McCann P.C., one of the top 10 accounting firms in the nation. During his five years there, he managed multiple teams on audits for many SEC and large, privately held companies based in Utah, both profit and not-for-profit. This opportunity provided him with valuable experience and insight in managing the finances, information, and other critical aspects of a company to ensure its success. 

Darin joined Veracity’s team in January 2007. Since then, Darin has immersed himself in learning the unique industry of telecommunications. He successfully organizes the flow of financial information to be more timely and effective, allowing the owners to make substantial and better informed decisions. He is also consistently involved in analyzing Veracity’s services, as well as the revenues and costs tied to those services, to continuously improve the health of the company.

Darin enjoys canyoneering, camping, hiking, sports, woodworking, and any other outdoor activity. But mostly, he enjoys spending time with his wife and four children.

 

Don Mortensen - VP of Technology

Mr. Mortensen has 24 years of telecommunications experience. He started his career in the US Air Force serving on a Launch Crew/Alternate Command Post for the Titan II Missile Systems and later work in the CSS center in Norad. His Telecommunications experience has allowed him to work for great companies such as DSC Communications, Tel America/Transtel, Sprint communications and UCN Inc. He has over 20 years of service in various capacities, including Corporate Switch Ops Manager at Tel America, Express Tel and National Network Corporation managing five switching locations covering 11 western states. He currently serves as the Chief Technology Officer for Veracity Networks. Mr. Mortensen is the father of five children. Mr. Mortensen attended the University of Utah.

 

Randy Christensen, VP of Sales & Marketing

Randy has worked in Sales and Sales Management for over 25 years. Including positions from Sales Representative to Vice President of Sales & Marketing. He has worked extensively in upper retail management, the home building and Real Estate Industry and has over 6 years experience in the Telecommunication industry. He has won many distinguished awards as both a Sales Representative and Sales Management leader including “National Sales Director of the Year” while employed at McLeod USA. Randy has been responsible for building a new residential sales team for Veracity and implementing new programs, policies and procedures related to the growth of our residential business.

Randy gained his business and management knowledge from his studies at Brigham Young University. He is married and has 4 beautiful daughters. When not working he loves to spend time in the outdoors doing anything from fly fishing, golfing, hunting or 4 wheeling. He is a huge sports fan. 

 

Mike Jasper - VP of Customer Relations

Mike is the proud parent of four beautiful daughters, three of which are married, and five awesome grandchildren. Mike has been married to his beautiful bride for 26 years.
Mike started his career on July 1, 1987 with Tel America Long Distance, the nation’s largest privately held Telecommunications company with 300 employees in five states. Mike started in sales and later transitioned to customer relations where he was then promoted as Sales and Customer Relations Manager. He then became general manager of the northern region and ended up as Director of Sales and Marketing for the company. Mike was the company’s highest sales producer and had won five years straight highest customer relations for the company. Mike opened up the Denver, Colorado office as well as managed the offices of SLC, Phoenix, Las Vegas, Sacramento, San Diego, Reno, Pasadena, and Irvine. Tel America was acquired by UCN and Mike was the only VP that was kept through the acquisition. Shortly after that, Mike moved over to Veracity Networks where he is now the VP of Customer Relations as well as a part owner in the company. Mike loves working with a lot of his former Tel America co-workers that were hired on after his move to Veracity.

 

Shane Speakman, Director of Commercial Sales

Shane has dedicated his career to perfecting the “art of the sale”. With over 10 years in sales management and training, he thrives on developing talent while leading by example. Shane started his career in May of 1999 as a manufacturer’s sales representative and quickly built the highest grossing sales team in the office products/craft industry in the Rocky Mountain Region. Shane and his team represented numerous Fortune 500 companies while expanding into the mass market retailers in 2003. Shane has also served as National Sales Manager for Rimports (USA) LLC where he developed relationships while selling to companies such as Wal-Mart, Costco, Shopko, Michaels, and other mass market retailers.

Shane was asked to join Veracity Communications by Mr. Peterson in 2009 and has been a key component in the continued growth and numerous awards received by our company. Shane enjoys training and directing our sales force and prides himself on being an expert in his role at Veracity. When he is not drawing network diagrams at our whiteboard, Shane enjoys spending time with his wife and three young boys. He is an avid outdoorsman and can be seen in the Utah backcountry on one of his horses, fly fishing a cold stream, or golfing with friends.

 

Christina Jackson, Compliance Officer/HR

Christina Jackson earned her Bachelor’s of Science degree in Human Development from the University of Utah in 2000. Christina has worked for Veracity Networks since January 2007.

Christina plays a role in keeping the company in compliance with the state and federal government in the telecom, internet and cable industry. Prior to working at Veracity Networks, Christina was employed by the American Academy of Professional Coders for ten years as their Human Resource Manager.   

Christina is on the board of directors for a local charity called ‘Bikes for Kids’ since 2002, where she oversees the annual silent auction and dinner and helps coordinate the annual 100K bike ride.

 

Kenny Barton, Director of Agent Sales

Kenny is married to Tara now for nearly 8 years and, is the proud daddy of 2 strapping young boys, and a beautiful little girl.  He currently is raising his family in Orem, Utah.  He was a graduate of Mountain View High School class of 97'.

After High School, Kenny enlisted in the United States Marine Corps and completed boot camp in December 1997.  He then submitted his Mission Papers, and was called to serve a mission in Milwaukee, Wisconsin for the LDS Church.  He began attending school at UVU, and studied Marketing and Economics.  

In the year previous to working with Veracity (2003) he visited 11 Countries on 4 continents.  He served with 4th Light Armored Reconnaissance Battalion out of Riverton, Utah.  He is a Veteran of the War in Iraq.  Kenny loves his country, and was proud to serve!  Kenny was awarded Citizen of the Year for Provo City in 2004 for his military service.

Kenny began selling for Veracity, and quickly became one of Veracity’s top sales people.  He was given the opportunity to create Veracity's Agent Program.  He now works with Vendors, and Agents that refer business to Veracity, and has played a key role in developing those relationships.  

Kenny has been a key individual in the growth and development of Veracity's Success, and will continue to be in the years to come.
