Veracity Networks began in 1987 as Off Campus Telecommunications and was the first alternative local dial tone provider in Utah, providing local dial tone and long distance to off campus student housing at Brigham Young University, Utah State University, Utah Valley State College, and Southern Utah University. As the internet grew in the mid-1990’s, the founders recognized the need to integrate an ISP service for their customers and thus implemented one of the first wireless networks in Provo to connect the off campus housing complexes to the internet.
In 2002, the original partners of Off Campus Telecommunications brought in a third partner to form a company that delivered services to small businesses in Utah County utilizing the network that was deployed for the off campus housing complexes. The original partners recognized the poor service that these small customers were receiving by competitors and wanted to roll out a service and product that would make it easy for customers to do business with a telecom provider. The result was Veracity Communications. Veracity means integrity and adherence to the truth. The name was chosen so Veracity could differentiate itself from its competitors, which have had a history of failing to live up to expectations. From the beginning, Veracity made it a point to not have any hidden fees or use deceptive marketing, and Veracity has committed itself to deliver what was promised. After a very successful 2 years, Veracity became a CLEC (Competitive Local Exchange Carrier) in 2004, and in 2005 it successfully launched its facilities-based services.
In 2009, Veracity Communications and Broadweave Networks merged and immediately began offering telecom services to both residential and commercial customers. This combined company created Veracity Networks (www.veracitynetworks.com) located in Provo Utah. We are a facilities-based telecommunications provider servicing customers on our next generation FTTP Network in Provo and extensive fiber network throughout Utah.
